Autumnal audio

After my recent performance I am struggling to see myself as fit to be a “blogger”. With a very laidback and somewhat lacklustre approach to my posts, my blog isn’t going anywhere fast... Alas, I will continue on my merry way, offering you what I’ve got (which isn’t much).

As the days begin to shorten and the chilly winds begin to blow, we realise that Jack Frost and his good mate Winter are on their way, hopefully bringing with them some of Hughey’s magic. After a dismal early March, some corduroy has appeared on the horizon and the swells have begun to make their way past the cape and onto Victorias inner west coast. Hopefully the current trend continues well on into the year, washing away another dusty and dry summer’s dust from our nooks and crevices. Hopefully these photos suffice.

A song that is almost as refreshing as the autumn winds is Jona Vark by Melbourne duo Gypsy and the Cat. Although another re-hash of the synth pop revolution, there is something about this song that will have you continually trying to wail along to the ‘Joooooooooooooona.....Jona Vark’ chorus. Pleasingly, Triple J has been giving this song a great run of late which will hopefully help to produce the rewards these lads deserve.

The other song I’ve been enjoying lately is a remix by none other than M83 (producer of some of Bloc Party’s, Placebo’s and Van She’s more popular remixes). The quiet Frenchman behind this guise is a creative creature by the name of Anthony Gonzalez. If you haven’t heard of any of M83’s originals, check out Lower Your Eyelids to Die with the Sun. I digress, this remix from 2007’s Mission by French band Fortune is a fantastic example of Gonzalez’s unique touch and although almost 3 years old it’s still a favourite of mine.
